The Bible is God’s divine Word written and recorded by human authors under the direct supervision of God without error in their original writings, containing the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of man along with the divine and authoritative teachings for Christian faith and life.
GOD AS TRIUNE
There is one God, eternally existing in Three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully God and of the same divine essence.
The Father is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. The Father begets the Son and sends the Spirit.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, and of the same essence as the Father. The Son is fully human and fully divine, united within the single person.
The Spirit maintains His own personhood and deity as the third person of the Trinity.
Man was created in God’s image in the form of two sexes (male and female) without sin.
God is the author of marriage according to the teachings of the Bible. Marriage is to be defined as between one man and one woman.
All of humanity is fallen because of the entrance of sin through Adam. Man is totally lost and separated (presently and eternally) from God, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.
Humanity is ultimately restored through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has brought us from death to life. Salvation from our fallen state is found in the grace of God and received through faith alone.
There will be a bodily resurrection of all people, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. Christ’s return is imminent, at which time He will gather the elect, both those alive and dead in Christ and transform them with resurrected bodies like Him who is the firstfruits from the dead.
The Church universal is expressed in local churches - a group of believers in a particular location - where these members not only attend services, but are active members of Christ’s body which is called to make disciples in this world. Local churches are the gathering of God’s people, the household of God, the bride of Christ, and the body of Christ.
WE EXIST TO GLORIFY GOD BY MAKING GOSPEL TRANSFORMED DISCIPLES OF ALL PEOPLES, IN OUR CITY, AND IN THE WORLD.

LIFE IMPACTING LIFE
Baptism is a symbol of what Christ has done through his death and resurrection. Just as Christ died and rose from the dead, baptism symbolizes that we die with Christ and are raised to new life in Christ! It signifies that your former way of life has been put to death and you are now released from the power of sin. (Rom. 6:1-11)
In obedience to Christ's command and as a testimony to God, the Church, and the world, a believer should be immersed in water in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matt. 28:19).
The baptism process consists of:
- Meeting with a pastor/elder.
- Submit a written testimony.
- Submit a photo.
Becoming a member at Sunset Church means becoming a part of our spiritual family by making a public promise to live according to the Word and to support the vision and mission of the church. The Bible calls this a covenant. It is the means to hold both members and its leadership accountable to walk in a manner pleasing to God as a witness to the truth of Christ in the world.
Church membership is not like membership of a country club where members are consumers of the organization. The Bible tells us that the Church is a body where all its members are connected (1 Corinthians 12:12). Church membership entails becoming and committing to be a part of the body that will love and care for one another’s faithfulness to Christ.
THE MEMBERSHIP PROCESS:
Step 1: Attend a Membership Class
Sunset Church offers membership classes regularly throughout the year. The class gives an overview of the biblical basis of membership and the vision and mission of Sunset Church. It is also an opportunity to interact with a teacher in the church about questions you might have regarding membership and to fill out the application.
If you were sprinkled or immersed at an earlier age, it is important to understand that we should only be baptized once. If you trusted in Christ at that time, your baptism is valid and need not be repeated. However, if you have not been baptized you can participate in one of our baptism services throughout the year.
Step 3: Written Testimony
We value knowing the testimonies of how Christ has saved and reached all members of our church. One of the ways we can know your story of God’s saving work in your life is through submitting a written testimony. As the body hears the testimony of Christ in your life, it strengthens the church to glorify God.
Step 4: Meet a Pastor or Elder to Affirm Your Faith and Sign Membership Covenant
The Sunset pastors and elders want to meet you to affirm your testimony and walk with you through the content of the membership covenant. Our leadership values relationships with our members and want to guide you through the expectations of both members and leaders at Sunset Church.
Step 5: Congregation Affirmation
At our quarterly members meeting, the congregation will have a chance to affirm you as part of our Sunset Church family. This affirmation will recognize you as an official member of the Sunset Church body where we commit ourselves to love and care for your life in Christ.
