Nurse Sonographer Job Description

JOB OBJECTIVE

Serve clients by offering pregnancy options education, pregnancy testing, and ultrasounds.
Assist in the operations of clinical services as listed below or instructed by Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED: 
Full agreement with the Alpha Pregnancy Center Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Policies and Procedures.
Holds a current license in good standing with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Has current BLS Certification.
Demonstrates competent knowledge of the nursing care for obstetrical and gynecological patients and women’s health issues.
Express a desire to reach out to abortion-vulnerable women and women facing unintended pregnancy.
Knowledge of pregnancy, fetal development, and abortion methods and risks.
The ability to recognize and suspend personal values which are extra-biblical.

PREFERRED: 
Proficient in Spanish or Cantonese.

DETAILS

Reports to: Director of Nursing and Executive Director.
Time Commitment: as per contractual agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provision of Nursing Care.
Upholds the policies and procedures specified in the Alpha Pregnancy Center Policies and Procedures Manual. 
Provides nursing care that assesses patient needs, makes nursing judgments that reflect safe and effective nursing practices and implements evidence-based care.
Maintains accurate records, care plans and implementation of health care provider orders. 
Provides health education to the patient.
Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.

For Nurse Sonographers

The Nurse Sonographer shall complete the didactic training provided by NIFLA and hands-on training prior to scanning patients at the clinic.
The volunteer nurse sonographer will perform limited obstetric ultrasound according to the AWHONN guidelines.
Send ultrasound images and ultrasound report to ultrasound supervising physician via secure method.
Consults Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and/or Ultrasound Supervising Physician regarding patient care when necessary.
