Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year
Another Christmas has come and gone. But let’s not forget why that season brings Christians so much joy. The Christmas seasons is our annual opportunity to specifically celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. This is an amazing story of how God remains faithful to his promises. He had told Israel that there was a coming Messiah for thousands of years, and now it was happening! And it was coming in an amazing way, a virgin birth (just like Isaiah 7:14 said). The greatest king was about to be born from the line of David (just like 2 Sam 7:12-16 said), and he was being born in Bethlehem (just like Micah 5:2 said) because Joseph’s family needed to register at the census. In this we see that God perfectly orchestrates his plans! We celebrate because he is not just a human king, but he is Emmanuel “God with us.” Jesus, the God-man, was born so that he could bear all of God’s wrath for all of our sins by dying on the cross. And then he rose from the dead, on the third day, and established His Kingdom FOREVER (2 Sam 7:16). So even though Christmas is past, we can continue to celebrate the birth of our Savior King with joy and happiness throughout the entire year!
