The first son of a Korean Presbyterian minister, Abraham “Abe” grew up serving in the church on the worship team and later as a youth ministry director. Though he came to faith in Christ at an early age, he struggled with his faith through much of his college and graduate school career. Thankfully, the persistence of a loving friend and mentor brought him back to his faith in Jesus Christ after grad school. During that time, he clung to the knowledge that if he confessed his sins, God would forgive and love him and bring Abe back to a reconciled relationship with Him (1 John 1:9).
Abe met his wife Suzette in his hometown of Chicago and God used him to introduce her to Christ. They've been married and living in San Francisco since 2001, and have attended Sunset Church since 2002. A former social worker who now develops mobile solutions for health & human service organizations, he loves playing the bass, studying God's word, and working out. He is currently a mentor, worship team member, greeter, and small group leader at Sunset.
Understanding the Biblical definition of “elder" is to acknowledge that he is a broken man who strives to live a life of total abandon for his Lord & Savior, while being used by God to shepherd, pray and care for the body of believers at Sunset - this is what he aims for at Sunset Church.
