Position: English Assistant Pastor
Status: Full-Time
Reports to: English Lead Pastor Position

Summary: Sunset Church has an attendance of 1000+ with multiple staff. The Assistant Pastor is a key position on the Sunset Church English pastoral staff team. The Pastoral Staff works with the church leadership to plan, inspire, and guide the local body of believers to maturity in their walk with God. In addition, under direction of the Lead English Pastor, the Pastoral Staff works together to communicate, manage, integrate, assess and nurture effectively the ministry activities for the church as a whole.

The English Assistant Pastor position will:

● Teach, oversee and guide various ministry teams & activities within the English congregation such as small group ministries, discipleship and adult Christian education.
● Develop and train leaders to assist in supporting the various ministry teams.
● Be an effective shepherd with preaching & teaching skills for the English congregation and will invest in relationships for growth and discipleship.
● Be an effective pastoral team member in communicating, refining and implementing the church vision & mission as part of the church leadership team.

Position Requirements:
Experience:

● Master of Divinity degree
● Minimum five years of leadership of a North American English congregation, or other related experience
● Minimum three years of pastor experience Skills:
● Leadership – Ability to lead, manage, and coordinate activities for designated ministry area; develop and promote team effort through integrating talents of team members; develop long term, big picture strategies to enhance ministry effectiveness; to positively influence others in words and actions.
● Teamwork – Promote the effective working as a ‘team’ & ‘Body’ to plan, communicate, implement and promote a cohesive & integrate church vision & purpose (1 Cor. 12:12).
● Mentoring – Ability to disciple, mentor, counsel and coach to provide guidance and training to individuals as in Titus 2.
● Management – Ability to stay organized, plan effectively, and implement strategically.
● Relational – Ability to relate with others to build relationship that incorporate cooperation, trust and respect.
● Teaching – Ability to impart knowledge and truths effectively to an individual, small group and large group.
● Preaching – Ability to present information after faithful exegesis of text and communicating the Biblical message clearly and concisely.
● Conflict Resolution – Ability to deal with conflict by identifying and discussing the issues underlying and navigating towards Biblical solutions.

Position Responsibilities:
1. Assist the English Lead Pastor in providing leadership to ministry teams through regular meetings, needs & ministry assessments, coaching training and problem solving.

● Guiding, maturing and supporting leaders faithfully serving in ministry.
● Providing the framework for designated ministry that requires assistance.
● Having the ability to prepare and deliver Biblical sermons on a weekly basis for the English congregation.
● Having the ability to teach various classes in evangelism, membership, baptism, service, leadership and personal growth.

2. Implement the Sunset Church mission of vision of leadership, service, and spirituality throughout the English ministry areas.

3. Serve as the Sunset Church shepherd who will formulate a thriving relationship with the congregation and guide their spiritual growth as they develop their identity in Christ, live for His glory and manage their changing relationships including marriage, family, friends and church.

4. Ensure that the Bible is the foundation for evangelism, spiritual growth, discipleship, service and leadership.

5. Recruit, train and inspire the adult volunteer staff as they serve in ministry areas.
